A Racine Therapist Who Helps You Heal From the Inside Out
Youâve been holding it all together for years â but inside, you feel like youâre falling apart.
You keep it together â because if you donât, who will?
You wake up already overwhelmed. You power through work, caregiving, family stuff, a thousand to-dos â all while feeling like youâre barely holding it together inside.
You cry in the car or on your lunch break and then wipe your face and keep going.
You lie awake at night scrolling, trying to quiet the buzzing in your brain.
You say yes when you want to say no.
You laugh off things that actually hurt.
You second-guess yourself constantly.
And relationships? Whether itâs with your partner, your parent, your kid, or your boss â you keep ending up in the same spot: misunderstood, overextended, emotionally tapped out.
Youâve probably wondered:
Why do I feel like this?
Why canât I just be happy?
Whatâs wrong with me?
The answer?
Nothing. Nothing is wrong with you.
Youâre a human being whoâs been carrying way too much for way too long â probably since childhood.
Hi, Iâm Jennifer. Iâve been there too.
Iâm a therapist, Brainspotting practitioner, and the founder of Rooted Counseling & Wellness in Racine, WI.
But Iâm also a woman whoâs had to do some serious healing of her own.
And no one told me that finding the right therapist to help you through it, matters. Like REALLY matters. It took many attempts and many years to find the right therapist to help me find long lasting healing. I had great therapists along the way that helped identify and come to terms with some of the hard experiences I had gone through in my past and help me understand that the things that happened to me were not my fault.
But, months later, when inevitably, life likes to life and get challenging â why am I still feeling this way? That racing heartbeat without explanation, the feelings of not being understood or heard, the hopelessness and tears that come with it.
Why canât I just let this go?
I had done such great work healing the mind â but left my body behind. It was still holding all the memories, hurts, and sadness from the past without a way to release. That first somatic therapy session was like someone had opened the floodgates and I was finally able to let go. And Brainspotting helped me access parts of myself I didnât even know were buried.
I bring all of that into the room with my clients:
Not because I have all the answers, but because I understand what it takes to stop surviving and start actually living.
đž Meet Sidney â Your Four-Legged Co-Therapist
Sidney is my Australian Shepherd and certified therapy dog â and honestly, sheâs kind of the star of the show around here. With her calm energy, soulful eyes, and gentle presence, Sidney has a way of helping clients feel grounded, safe, and seen (without saying a word).
Sheâs especially gifted at knowing when someone needs a little extra comfort â whether thatâs a quiet presence nearby or a soft nudge for a head rub. Sheâs always optional, and totally on board with boundaries (even if it means napping in the corner instead).
If youâre a dog person, sheâll probably become one of your favorite parts of therapy.
And if youâre not? No worries â sheâs happy to hang back and let you lead.
If We Were Grabbing Coffee I Would Tell YouâŚ
I have a slight obsession with plants - they are my happy place and I absolutely LOVE sharing this obsession with those around me (including my clients)
I have been a proud single mom for all of my daughterâs beautiful 18 years of life, I cannot wait to see what young adulthood has in store for her!
At home, you can usually find me with a cup of coffee (or matcha) and a good book - I have most recently been getting into historical fiction and always looking for recommendations.
I love spending time in nature, and that includes camping. I am most proud of my solo backpacking trip (with my daughter) around Isle Royale in Lake Superior.
I practice what I preach! Yoga and meditation are regular practices in my life that help keep me centered.
My Brainspotting Training & Committment to Your Healing
Brainspotting is a powerful, brainâbodyâbased therapy that helps access and release stored trauma, emotional pain, and limiting beliefsâoften beneath the level of conscious awareness. Because of the depth of this work, itâs important to work with a clinician who is well-trained and continues to grow in the practice.
I am currently working toward becoming a Certified Brainspotting Therapist, a process that involves completing advanced consultation with an approved Brainspotting consultant, extensive direct client work using Brainspotting, and ongoing professional development. Certification represents a clinicianâs commitment to offering this method with a high level of skill, ethical practice, and attunementâensuring that sessions are both safe and effective.
For my clients, this means the Brainspotting work we do together is grounded in solid training, ongoing mentorship, and intentional practiceânot something I simply use occasionally, but a foundational part of how I support healing.
