Rooted Counseling & Wellness FAQs

  • I am currently private pay only. I do offer my clients bulk billing who would like to submit to insurance for out-of-network benefits. I also accept FSA, HSA cards and Care Credit as forms of payment. Please click here if you would like to learn more about Care Credit: https://www.carecredit.com/go/971NSK/

If you would like to learn more about why I choose not to be paneled with insurance and how this benefits my clients, you can read more about this in my blog post here: The Rooted Blog - How Private Pay Benefits You

  • My practice currently prioritizes Brainspotting Intensives. Weekly therapy availability is limited due to capacity.

For some clients, ongoing sessions may be discussed after completing an Intensive.

You can learn more about Brainspotting Intensives here.

  • Rather than using a single fixed fee, Rooted Counseling & Wellness offers a tiered, values-informed rate structure designed to support both accessibility and sustainability of care. Rates are guided by current financial capacity, access to resources, and individual circumstances, rather than income alone.

Clients are invited to explore a rate that feels accessible and supportive of consistent therapy. For an overview of the different rate tiers and guidance on how rates are determined, please visit the Ethical Therapy Rates for a Shared Community page.

  • Yes. Rooted Counseling & Wellness offers financing through CareCredit for clients who are interested in spreading the cost of therapy over time. CareCredit is a third-party healthcare financing option that may allow you to make monthly payments, depending on eligibility.

This option can be especially helpful for extended sessions or intensive work. Clients are encouraged to review CareCredit’s terms and pre-qualification process to determine whether this option fits their financial needs.

  • Yes! I pride myself on making myself accessible to my clients. Juggling family, work, beating traffic, and a list of to-do’s all while trying to make time for yourself to squeeze in some therapy is hard.

I always offer several post-5 p.m. slots to my clients. Brainspotting Intensives are available for weekend bookings as well.

  • I offer both in-person and virtual sessions to meet a client’s preferences. For all virtual sessions, client’s must be located in the state of Wisconsin, have a private area to chat, and a working web camera.

  • I work with individuals aged 18 and up. I have also had the privilege of working with Native American communities for several years. My approach is grounded in cultural humility, and I strive to create a space that respects and integrates each client’s unique cultural identity, traditions, and ways of healing.

  • You're not alone in feeling hesitant—many people come to me after previous therapy experiences that felt unhelpful or disconnected. One of the most important elements of effective therapy is the relationship between you and your therapist. That’s why I offer a free 15-minute consultation. This gives us a chance to talk, explore what you're looking for, and see if we’re a good fit—because you deserve to feel safe and supported.

In addition to building that connection, I also take a different approach. Instead of only talking about your experiences, I integrate somatic therapy and Brainspotting to help you process trauma through the body, not just the mind. This can be especially powerful for people who feel stuck or overwhelmed by traditional talk therapy. Together, we’ll work gently and at your pace to help you find relief and healing from the inside out.

  • Traditional talk therapy primarily works through conversation — exploring insight, patterns, and meaning. For many people, this can be incredibly helpful.

    Brainspotting works differently.

Rather than focusing only on cognitive understanding, Brainspotting helps us access and process experiences at the level of the brain and nervous system. By identifying specific eye positions connected to emotional activation, we can engage deeper parts of the brain where patterns are stored — often beyond words.

You don’t have to retell every detail of your story for change to occur. The process is less about analyzing and more about allowing your nervous system to process what has been held in place.

Many clients find this approach helpful when they feel like they “understand” their patterns intellectually, but still experience the same emotional or physiological responses.

Brainspotting can be integrated into weekly therapy or used in extended intensive formats, depending on what feels most supportive.
