Rooted Counseling & Wellness in Racine FAQs

  • I’m a private-pay practice, which allows us to focus on your care without the limitations of insurance.

Many clients are able to receive reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. I’m happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance, and we also partner with Thrizer to make checking your benefits and receiving reimbursement quicker and easier.

Working with an out-of-network therapist often means:

    • No limits on the number of sessions—we can meet for as long as you need

    • More flexible, personalized care based on what’s actually helpful for you

    • Greater privacy, without needing to share diagnoses or session notes with insurance

    • Fewer disruptions or unexpected coverage changes that can interrupt your care

    • The ability to focus on what’s best for you—not what insurance requires

I also accept HSA/FSA cards and CareCredit.

  • The standard fee for a 50-minute therapy session is $190, and most clients in the practice work within this full-fee rate.

Because financial capacity can vary across seasons of life, Rooted Counseling & Wellness also offers a limited number of reduced-rate placements through a clinician-guided review process.

If you are wondering what fee options may be available, how the different tiers work, or whether a reduced-rate placement may be the best fit for your current circumstances, I encourage you to review the Ethical Therapy Rates for a Shared Community page before scheduling your consultation.

  • Yes. Rooted Counseling & Wellness offers financing through CareCredit for clients who are interested in spreading the cost of therapy over time. CareCredit is a third-party healthcare financing option that may allow you to make monthly payments, depending on eligibility.

This option can be especially helpful for extended sessions or intensive work. Clients are encouraged to review CareCredit’s terms and pre-qualification process to determine whether this option fits their financial needs.

  • I offer both in-person and virtual sessions to meet a client’s preferences. My in-person sessions are located at my office in downtown Racine. I also serve all areas of Wisconsin with virtual therapy. For all virtual sessions, client’s must be located in the state of Wisconsin, have a private area to chat, and a working web camera.

  • You're not alone in feeling hesitant—many people come to me after previous therapy experiences that felt unhelpful or disconnected. One of the most important elements of effective therapy is the relationship between you and your therapist. That’s why I offer a free 15-minute consultation. This gives us a chance to talk, explore what you're looking for, and see if we’re a good fit—because you deserve to feel safe and supported.

In addition to building that connection, I also take a different approach. Instead of only talking about your experiences, I integrate somatic therapy and Brainspotting to help you process trauma through the body, not just the mind. This can be especially powerful for people who feel stuck or overwhelmed by traditional talk therapy. Together, we’ll work gently and at your pace to help you find relief and healing from the inside out.

  • Traditional talk therapy primarily works through conversation — exploring insight, patterns, and meaning. For many people, this can be incredibly helpful.

    Brainspotting works differently.

Rather than focusing only on cognitive understanding, Brainspotting helps us access and process experiences at the level of the brain and nervous system. By identifying specific eye positions connected to emotional activation, we can engage deeper parts of the brain where patterns are stored — often beyond words.

You don’t have to retell every detail of your story for change to occur. The process is less about analyzing and more about allowing your nervous system to process what has been held in place.

Many clients find this approach helpful when they feel like they “understand” their patterns intellectually, but still experience the same emotional or physiological responses.

Brainspotting can be integrated into weekly therapy or used in extended intensive formats, depending on what feels most supportive.

  • Most clients start with weekly 50-minute sessions.

Weekly therapy creates enough consistency for your system to settle and for the work to actually build over time. With that in mind, I typically recommend committing to weekly sessions for at least the first 3 months.

From there, we can reassess together. Some clients choose to continue weekly, while others transition to biweekly as things begin to feel more steady.

  • In weekly therapy, the first couple of sessions are focused on building the therapeutic relationship and getting a clear understanding of what’s bringing you in.

We’ll review your intake paperwork, talk through your experiences, and begin to collaboratively identify what you want to focus on during your time in therapy.

This foundation matters—it helps us move into deeper work in a way that feels steady and not overwhelming.

We don’t typically start Brainspotting in the very first session of weekly therapy.

That said, if you feel ready to begin deeper work right away, we can talk about Brainspotting and Trauma Intensive options during your consultation call and determine what approach makes the most sense for you.

Still wondering why you react this way?

Many women arrive here with a strong understanding of their patterns, yet still feel confused by how quickly they move into overfunctioning, boundary loss, or shutdown in relationships.

I created The Reactivity Cycle as a short somatic guide to help make sense of these protective responses through an attachment-informed lens.

If you’d like a deeper understanding before beginning therapy, you can receive the guide below.
