Brainspotting Therapy & Deep Healing Intensives in Racine, WI

Gently process and release what's been holding you back with Brainspotting — a private, one-time intensive designed for deep emotional healing.

What is Brainspotting Therapy?

Brainspotting is a brain-body therapy that helps you access and process experiences stored in the nervous system — whether you're working through trauma, seeking emotional clarity, or looking to deepen personal growth. By using eye positions and tuning into your body's felt sense, Brainspotting supports healing, integration, and greater connection to your inner self. The Science Behind Brainspotting

Brainspotting is rooted in the understanding that trauma and emotional experiences are not just stored in our thoughts, but also in the body and nervous system. When something overwhelming happens, the brain may not fully process the event, leaving fragments “stuck” in deeper regions of the brain. These unprocessed fragments can show up later as anxiety, emotional triggers, or physical tension.

Brainspotting uses eye positions to access these deeper brain networks. Research suggests that where we look affects how we feel because eye positions are directly linked to the midbrain — the part of the brain involved in survival responses like fight, flight, or freeze. By identifying a “brainspot,” or the eye position connected to an unprocessed memory or emotion, Brainspotting helps the nervous system locate and process what has been held beneath the surface.

This method allows the brain’s natural healing ability to take over. Unlike talk therapy, which primarily engages the thinking brain (the cortex), Brainspotting reaches the limbic system and brainstem, where trauma and stress are stored. By attuning to both the body and the brain, clients often find they can release tension, integrate past experiences, and restore a greater sense of calm and balance.

Put simply: Brainspotting helps the brain do what it was designed to do — process and heal — by gently guiding you into the places where healing was once blocked.

Common Myths and Misconceptions About Brainspotting Therapy

Myth 1: “I’ll have to relive my trauma in detail.”
Fact: Brainspotting does not require you to retell or re-experience painful memories. The focus is on your body’s natural processing, not on describing events. You remain in control of how much or how little you share.

Myth 2: “Brainspotting is a form of hypnosis.”
Fact: Brainspotting is not hypnosis. You are fully awake and aware throughout the session. Instead of putting you into a trance, Brainspotting gently helps your brain and body access where trauma or stress is stored so it can release.

Myth 3: “If I don’t feel anything during the session, it didn’t work.”
Fact: Healing looks different for everyone. Some clients notice big emotional releases in session, while others feel more subtle shifts that integrate over days or weeks. Both experiences are valid.

Myth 4: “Brainspotting is only for people with trauma.”
Fact: While Brainspotting is highly effective for trauma, it can also support people with anxiety, grief, life transitions, relationship struggles, or even creative or performance blocks. It’s a flexible tool for growth and healing.

Myth 5: “One session will fix everything.”
Fact: A single intensive session can create profound change, but healing is often a process. Some clients choose to do multiple sessions, integrate Brainspotting into ongoing therapy, or use it alongside other supportive practices.

What Does a Brainspotting Therapy Session Look Like?

Sessions are gentle, collaborative, and completely client-led. From the very beginning, you’ll be invited to set the pace and choose the focus of your work. We start by identifying an issue, theme, or area of your life that you’d like to explore — this could be a specific memory, a recurring emotional pattern, or simply a feeling of being “stuck.” Together, we’ll locate a “brainspot,” which is a point in your visual field connected to the deeper experience you want to process. This is done through natural eye positioning, guided by your body’s cues rather than force or pressure.

Once your brainspot is identified, you’ll be guided to simply notice what unfolds inside — whether that’s physical sensations, emotions, images, or memories. There’s no need to force anything or “figure it out.” Your nervous system leads the way, and I provide attunement and support to help you stay grounded and safe throughout the process.

During the session, you remain in complete control. Some clients choose to process quietly and internally, while others may share what they are experiencing out loud. There is no right or wrong way to participate. What matters most is creating a space where your brain and body can release what they’ve been holding onto at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Clients often describe feeling lighter, clearer, and more grounded afterward. Some notice immediate relief, while others experience more subtle shifts that unfold in the hours and days following the session. It’s not uncommon for insights, dreams, or new perspectives to emerge as your brain continues to integrate the work. Each session is unique, but all are designed to honor your autonomy and natural healing capacity.

Brainspotting FAQ’s

  • Yes. Brainspotting can be just as effective in a virtual format as it is in person. Sessions are conducted over a secure video platform, and the process is very similar to meeting in the office. We work together to identify a brainspot using your camera view, and you are guided through the same gentle, client-led steps of noticing sensations, emotions, or memories as they arise.

Many clients even prefer virtual Brainspotting because they can do the work from the comfort of their own home, surrounded by familiar and calming surroundings. This can sometimes make it easier to relax into the process.

    All you need is:

    • A stable internet connection

    • A quiet, private space where you feel safe and won’t be interrupted

    • A device with a camera positioned so I can see your face and eyes clearly

Clients often find that the combination of professional support and the safety of their home environment creates a powerful setting for healing.

  • Not at all. Some people come in with a clear event or memory, while others simply bring a general feeling (like anxiety, grief, or “feeling stuck”). Brainspotting works either way.

  • Because trauma and stress are stored in the nervous system, many clients notice physical shifts — like tension releasing, breathing deepening, or posture relaxing — as their body lets go of what it has been carrying.

  • Yes. While research is still growing, studies show Brainspotting can significantly reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. It is widely used by trauma therapists, athletes, performers, and healers worldwide.

  • No. Brainspotting is not designed to create dependency. Some clients use it for a handful of sessions, while others return periodically when new challenges arise. It is meant to empower you, not keep you stuck in ongoing treatment.

  • It’s normal for insights or emotions to surface in the days following Brainspotting. Journaling, grounding practices, rest, or light movement can help. If anything feels overwhelming, you are encouraged to reach out for support.

  • If you feel stuck, have tried talk therapy without full relief, or want a gentle yet powerful way to access deeper healing, Brainspotting may be a good fit. The best way to know is to try a session and see how your system responds.

Brainspotting for Trauma and PTSD

Trauma is not just something that happened in the past — it’s what your body continues to carry in the present. For people living with PTSD or trauma-related symptoms, this may look like hypervigilance, intrusive memories, emotional numbing, or sudden triggers that feel out of your control. Even years later, the nervous system can remain “stuck” in fight, flight, or freeze mode.

Brainspotting goes beyond talk therapy by working directly with the brain and body. Through identifying a “brainspot” — a point in your visual field linked to an unprocessed experience — your nervous system can finally access and release what has been frozen in place. This isn’t about reliving trauma; it’s about allowing your body to process it in a safe and contained way.

Clients often notice reduced intensity of triggers, fewer intrusive thoughts, and a greater sense of calm after Brainspotting. Some describe it as finally being able to take a full breath again. Others find that relationships, work, and daily life become easier once the nervous system is no longer locked in survival mode.

If you’ve tried traditional therapy and still feel stuck, Brainspotting offers a powerful alternative. By helping your brain complete the healing process that was interrupted by trauma, you can reclaim safety, balance, and connection in your life.

“Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls your life.”
— Akshay Dubey

Brainspotting Therapy for Grief & Loss

Grief can feel like it takes over every part of your life. Whether you’re mourning the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or another painful loss, the emotional weight can feel overwhelming. Traditional talk therapy may help you process your story, but grief often lives deeper than words — in the body, the nervous system, and even the way you breathe.

Brainspotting creates space to gently process grief without needing to explain or “move on” before you’re ready. By working with eye positions connected to the midbrain, Brainspotting helps the nervous system release the stored tension of loss. This process allows emotions like sadness, anger, guilt, or numbness to move through rather than stay stuck.

Many clients describe Brainspotting as giving them permission to grieve fully, without judgment. For some, this means softening the sharp edges of pain. For others, it means reconnecting with moments of love, gratitude, and memory without being overwhelmed. Unlike approaches that push for closure, Brainspotting respects grief as an ongoing process while also helping you find stability, resilience, and moments of peace along the way.

If you’re carrying grief that feels too heavy or complicated to put into words, Brainspotting offers a safe, supportive way to heal at your own pace — honoring both your loss and your capacity to keep moving forward.

Brainspotting for Self-Worth and Identity

Feelings of low self-worth often trace back to early experiences — messages we absorbed as children, relationships that left us doubting ourselves, or patterns of always putting others first. Over time, these unprocessed experiences can shape our sense of identity, leaving us questioning our value, struggling with people-pleasing, or feeling disconnected from who we truly are.

Brainspotting helps uncover and release the deeper emotional imprints that keep self-worth challenges in place. Instead of only working through thoughts, Brainspotting allows the body and nervous system to access where those old wounds live. This can open up new clarity about where feelings of “not enough” come from, while creating space to anchor into your authentic self.

Clients often share that Brainspotting helps them feel lighter, clearer, and more aligned with their values. For example, someone who always said “yes” out of fear of letting others down may begin to notice more freedom in setting boundaries. Others describe a deeper sense of confidence and compassion for themselves — not as a forced mindset shift, but as a natural outcome of the brain and body integrating.

If you find yourself questioning your worth, struggling with your identity, or repeating old patterns of self-doubt, Brainspotting offers a gentle path to reconnect with who you truly are. It helps you move from self-criticism toward self-acceptance, making space for growth, balance, and a renewed sense of possibility.
