Virtual Trauma & Somatic Therapy in Wisconsin

Accessible Therapy for Clients Across Wisconsin

Healing doesn’t have to happen in an office.
It doesn’t have to mean fluorescent lights, a waiting room, or rushing across town to make it on time.

With online therapy in Wisconsin, the work is just as real, just as deep, and just as meaningful as being in the room together. Sometimes, it can even feel easier — because you’re already in the comfort of your own space.

You might be sitting at your kitchen table, wrapped in a blanket on your couch, or finding a quiet corner just for you. Wherever you are, therapy meets you there.

What matters most isn’t the location — it’s the connection.
The safety.
The space to breathe and be honest without judgment.

In virtual sessions, you’ll still experience the same compassionate, body-based approaches — somatic work, Brainspotting, mindfulness — the same gentle support, the same steady presence.

No matter where you live in Wisconsin, healing is possible.
Online therapy is not second best.
It’s real therapy.
It’s your space, your healing, your life.

    Trauma Counseling

You might find yourself constantly on edge, overwhelmed, or reacting in ways you don’t fully understand. Maybe you shut down during conflict, avoid vulnerability, or feel stuck in patterns that repeat no matter how hard you try to change them. Even if you haven’t named it as trauma, your body and emotions may be telling a different story.

Trauma often lingers in the nervous system—not just in your memories, but in how you relate, cope, and carry stress. My approach is gentle, trauma-informed, and grounded in helping you feel safe in your own body again. We’ll slow things down and tune into what your body is trying to communicate so you can stop living in survival mode and start feeling more at ease.

You’ll learn how to respond to triggers with clarity instead of shutdown or shame, build trust in yourself, and release the patterns that no longer serve you. Therapy isn’t about reliving the past—it’s about creating space to finally heal from it.

You don’t have to figure this out alone. Healing is possible, and I’m here to support you through it.

    Brainspotting

Sometimes healing isn’t about talking more—it’s about listening differently. Brainspotting helps you access the places where your body has stored emotional pain, trauma, or stress—often below conscious awareness. You don’t have to relive every detail. Instead, we use focused eye position and body cues to gently process what’s been held beneath the surface.

Many clients describe Brainspotting as a deeply intuitive experience—one that not only brings emotional relief but also enhances spiritual connection and self-trust. It’s also a powerful tool for unblocking creativity, especially when emotional patterns or past experiences have made it hard to express yourself fully. Whether you're carrying unresolved trauma or seeking to reconnect with your inner voice, Brainspotting offers a path inward.

    Grief Counseling

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline—and it doesn’t always look the way people expect. You might be mourning the death of someone you love, or you may be grieving something less visible: the end of a relationship, a fractured family dynamic, the loss of a role, or the version of yourself you no longer recognize.

Grief often shows up as fatigue, irritability, numbness, or disconnection from your body or your sense of purpose. It can bring up guilt, confusion, or a deep ache that feels hard to name. Whether your grief is fresh or something you’ve been carrying for years, you deserve space to be with it honestly—without pressure to “move on.”

Grief counseling offers that space. Together, we can hold the weight of your loss while exploring ways to make meaning, honor what matters, and reconnect with your life—on your terms.

Is Online Somatic Therapy in Wisconsin a Good Fit for You?

Online therapy in Wisconsin can be a strong fit for women who want consistent, specialized support without the added stress of travel, time constraints, or trying to fit another stop into an already full day.

Many of the women I work with are balancing careers, caregiving, relationships, and the invisible mental load of holding everything together. By the time they would need to drive across town, sit in a waiting room, and then transition back into the rest of their day, therapy can start to feel like one more thing to manage.

Virtual therapy removes that extra layer.

Online therapy may be a good fit if you:

  • have a demanding work schedule and need therapy to fit into a lunch break or between meetings

  • are a parent or caregiver and need to be home before or after sessions

  • live outside of Racine but want specialized trauma therapy anywhere in Wisconsin

  • travel often for work or have an unpredictable routine

  • feel more comfortable opening up from your own home or office

  • want privacy and discretion without coming into a therapy office

  • are more likely to stay consistent when therapy is easier to access

  • prefer to transition directly back into your real life after session rather than driving home activated or emotional

For many women, virtual therapy in Wisconsin makes it easier to actually prioritize their healing because it reduces the barriers that often lead people to delay support.

Rather than losing time to commuting, parking, weather, or coordinating schedules, you can step into therapy from a space that already feels familiar and return to your day with more ease.

Sometimes online therapy is not the “backup” option—it is the reason therapy becomes sustainable.

What to Expect in Online Therapy Sessions in Wisconsin

Starting therapy online might feel a little unfamiliar at first, but most people find it quickly becomes natural — even comforting. All you need is a quiet space, a device, and an internet connection. From there, we’ll create a space that feels safe and steady, even through a screen.

In virtual sessions, you can expect the same presence, depth, and compassion as you would in person. We’ll begin by checking in — noticing how you’re arriving that day, what’s on your mind, and what your body may be holding. From there, we move at your pace, using approaches that support both your mind and your body.

Somatic therapy translates beautifully into online work. Even through a screen, we can slow down, pause, and notice what your body is telling you — the tension in your shoulders, the heaviness in your chest, or the numbness that leaves you feeling disconnected. I’ll guide you through grounding practices, gentle body awareness, and tools to regulate your nervous system in real time, all from the comfort of your own space.

Brainspotting is also highly effective online. Using video, I can guide you to find the eye positions that connect with where your loss or trauma is held in your body. Together, we stay with those “spots” as your nervous system naturally begins to process and release what has been stuck. Many clients find it helpful to do this work at home, where they can immediately rest, journal, or continue self-care afterward without needing to travel.

You don’t need special equipment or preparation to benefit from these approaches — just a willingness to show up as you are. Whether you’re navigating loss, trauma, or other life challenges, online therapy creates a safe, private, and powerful space for healing.

Most people are surprised by how meaningful and connected online therapy feels. Sometimes, being in your own familiar environment allows you to relax even more deeply and bring your whole self to the process. However you arrive, we’ll create a rhythm together that feels supportive, grounding, and uniquely yours.

Licensed therapist Jennifer Rossmann in Racine therapy office

Meet Jennifer, therapist in Racine, WI

I’m Jennifer, the therapist behind Rooted Counseling & Wellness—and a firm believer that resilience can be reclaimed, healing is possible, and therapy doesn’t have to be stiff or clinical.

I didn’t take the traditional path to becoming a therapist. At 35, as a single mom, I decided to go back to school and earn my bachelor’s degree—something I wasn’t sure I could actually do. But I did it. And once I crossed that finish line, I thought, “Why stop now?” So I kept going, earned my Master’s, and became a therapist. What started as a personal goal turned into a professional calling.

My own healing journey—especially through therapy and Brainspotting—changed my life. It inspired me to help others move through their own pain, confusion, and stuck points. Every day, I’m honored to witness the incredible resilience and strength my clients bring into the room. Healing is tough work, and I never take for granted the courage it takes to show up.

Outside of sessions, I’m mom to a fiercely independent 17-year-old daughter and my therapy dog, Sidney (who might just be the world’s best co-therapist). When I’m not in the office, you’ll find Sidney and me hiking or camping somewhere beautiful—or daydreaming about our next trip to New Orleans (I've already been three times and counting!).

Frequently Asked Questions

  • For many clients, yes.

Online therapy offers the same depth, presence, and clinical intention as in-person work. The biggest difference is simply the setting.

Because you are in your own familiar space, many clients actually find it easier to settle in, open up, and carry what we work on directly into daily life.

For clients who live farther from Racine, virtual therapy also makes it easier to stay consistent with the work over time—which is often where meaningful change happens.

  • Yes. Both Somatic Therapy and Brainspotting can be highly effective in online therapy sessions.

Somatic work translates naturally to virtual therapy because we are paying attention to what is happening in your body in the present moment—breath, tension, heaviness, shutdown, activation, or relief.

Brainspotting can also be done securely over video, where I guide you in finding the eye position that connects to where trauma, grief, or emotional pain is being held in the brain and body.

Many clients are surprised by how deep this work can feel, even through a screen.

  • Privacy is important for online therapy, but it does not need to be perfect.

Some clients meet from a home office, bedroom, parked car, or another quiet private space where they feel comfortable speaking openly. Others use headphones, white noise outside the door, or schedule sessions during times when the home is quieter.

We can also problem-solve together around what setup helps you feel safest and most present.

  • That is completely okay—and often expected.

Because Brainspotting and somatic therapy continue integrating after the session, it can actually be helpful to already be at home or in your own environment.

Many clients appreciate having space afterward to rest, journal, hydrate, take a walk, or simply move more slowly through the rest of the day.
