Trauma Counseling
You might find yourself constantly on edge, overwhelmed, or reacting in ways you don’t fully understand. Maybe you shut down during conflict, avoid vulnerability, or feel stuck in patterns that repeat no matter how hard you try to change them. Even if you haven’t named it as trauma, your body and emotions may be telling a different story.
Trauma often lingers in the nervous system—not just in your memories, but in how you relate, cope, and carry stress. My approach is gentle, trauma-informed, and grounded in helping you feel safe in your own body again. We’ll slow things down and tune into what your body is trying to communicate so you can stop living in survival mode and start feeling more at ease.
You’ll learn how to respond to triggers with clarity instead of shutdown or shame, build trust in yourself, and release the patterns that no longer serve you. Therapy isn’t about reliving the past—it’s about creating space to finally heal from it.
You don’t have to figure this out alone. Healing is possible, and I’m here to support you through it.

Brainspotting
Sometimes healing isn’t about talking more—it’s about listening differently. Brainspotting helps you access the places where your body has stored emotional pain, trauma, or stress—often below conscious awareness. You don’t have to relive every detail. Instead, we use focused eye position and body cues to gently process what’s been held beneath the surface.
Many clients describe Brainspotting as a deeply intuitive experience—one that not only brings emotional relief but also enhances spiritual connection and self-trust. It’s also a powerful tool for unblocking creativity, especially when emotional patterns or past experiences have made it hard to express yourself fully. Whether you're carrying unresolved trauma or seeking to reconnect with your inner voice, Brainspotting offers a path inward.

Grief Counseling
Grief doesn’t follow a timeline—and it doesn’t always look the way people expect. You might be mourning the death of someone you love, or you may be grieving something less visible: the end of a relationship, a fractured family dynamic, the loss of a role, or the version of yourself you no longer recognize.
Grief often shows up as fatigue, irritability, numbness, or disconnection from your body or your sense of purpose. It can bring up guilt, confusion, or a deep ache that feels hard to name. Whether your grief is fresh or something you’ve been carrying for years, you deserve space to be with it honestly—without pressure to “move on.”
Grief counseling offers that space. Together, we can hold the weight of your loss while exploring ways to make meaning, honor what matters, and reconnect with your life—on your terms.

Meet Jennifer, therapist in Racine, WI
I’m Jennifer, the therapist behind Rooted Counseling & Wellness—and a firm believer that resilience can be reclaimed, healing is possible, and therapy doesn’t have to be stiff or clinical.
I didn’t take the traditional path to becoming a therapist. At 35, as a single mom, I decided to go back to school and earn my bachelor’s degree—something I wasn’t sure I could actually do. But I did it. And once I crossed that finish line, I thought, “Why stop now?” So I kept going, earned my Master’s, and became a therapist. What started as a personal goal turned into a professional calling.
My own healing journey—especially through therapy and Brainspotting—changed my life. It inspired me to help others move through their own pain, confusion, and stuck points. Every day, I’m honored to witness the incredible resilience and strength my clients bring into the room. Healing is tough work, and I never take for granted the courage it takes to show up.
Outside of sessions, I’m mom to a fiercely independent 17-year-old daughter and my therapy dog, Sidney (who might just be the world’s best co-therapist). When I’m not in the office, you’ll find Sidney and me hiking or camping somewhere beautiful—or daydreaming about our next trip to New Orleans (I've already been three times and counting!).
